The trick of a good short film trailer is to make the viewer ask questions: How does this story end? Who created it? When will it be released? And in the case of “Coyote” – by YK Animation Studio in Bern Switzerland – simply WTF?
At 60 seconds the trailer is just long enough to establish a tone, intro the protagonist, build momentum, blast the viewer with intense imagery, and then leave them wondering – What could it all mean, and more urgently, what does he see in the rearview mirror?!”
From YK Animation: “‘Coyote’ shows the processing of the loss of his family. The strategy of repression drives the coyote to despair, a confrontation with the experience is necessary. This emotional journey is presented in a slightly surreal, entertaining way.”
