Granted rare access to the 007 film archives, Studio AKA resurrects original storyboards and concept art from Goldfinger (1964) thru to No Time To Die (2021) to highlight The Macallan James Bond 60th Anniversary Release.
Marcus Armitage, animation director at Studio AKA in London: “Getting to see the archive of concept art, production designs, and storyboards behind the Bond films was already an exciting prospect. Adding to that, the task of bringing them to life, made this project hugely exciting.
“We took a different approach to each piece of the archive, so we could really be authentic with how it was animated and capture these iconic moments. Using a mixture of hand-drawn, cut-out, and 3D animation we’ve brought together an action-packed sequence of vehicles, gadgets, and locations all moving in time to the Bond theme tune.
“It’s a great reminder of all the work that goes into making these movies, and I hope this film can show off the artistry that goes on before the camera rolls.”
The archival art also features on the six limited edition bottles of Macallan seen at the end of the film, each design denoting the decade it represents.
