Brume, the new motion graphics studio founded by creative directors Benoit Drigny and Valentin Nouvel in Lyon, France, just dropped us their maiden project, a beautifully illustrated and surprisingly emotional short film for TED-Ed.
Valentin Nouvel: “We were commissioned to illustrate a traditional Chinese tale of the original star-crossed lovers, to translate the spirit of the tale through into a harmonious whole.
“The project is the result of a full year of work. It’s a very cinematographic project, with framing intentions and a style of narration close to animated feature films.
“The first creative and technical challenge was the five-minute length of the video itself. We’ve never worked on such a long film before, and this meant a phenomenal amount of shots to be designed by Benoit alone, and animated mostly by me with the help of a small team.”
