Combining forces for a prequel to the 2017 historical epic “The Unconquered,” Polish studios Tengent and Juice employ a dramatic game-cinematic aesthetic to recount a rousing chapter in their country’s evolution.
Krzysztof Noworyta, creative producer at Tengent Studio in Warsaw: “It was a real challenge to design and craft a new chapter of this story in a way that connected to the storyline and visual texture of the previous movie.
“The prequel presents a different story and emotional dynamic from the original movie. Instead of dealing with pain and suffering, it tells the story of how Poland rose from the ashes – and portrays this process as a multilayered and complex process that involved everything from the military and politics to economics and culture.
“There were a few large group scenes that required more complex creative work. Each scene is designed to be an illustration that is at once visually stunning and educational. We worked closely with academics who provided numerous historical details that inspired each sequence and are featured in every shot.”
