Director/designers Lenny Grade and Catrin Mackowski leverage “minimalist design, scenographic sculptures, and constantly changing typography” in this video for “Mayfly” by electro-pop duo Alice Rose & Moniko.
Lenny Grade and Catrin Mackowski: “[We] used the song’s lyrics of a fragile dying love and it’s spiritual hope of rebirth to translate it into scenes of delicate balance, objects that transform, circulate or flow and a lead singer that is arranged in a state of absence while being present.
“While working on a very low budget level, we fell more and more in love with the artistic and sculptural approach of the video and ended up in weeks of unpaid work to bring our vision to life.”
