From the release:

Storytelling production company 1stAveMachine has reinforced its directorial roster by signing on multi-talented filmmaker and photographer, Anthony Dickenson.

With well over a decade’s worth of experience behind the lens, the UK native has showcased his talent for creating evocative still and moving imagery for a variety of notable production companies. Now as part of the 1stAve roster, Dickenson has found an ideal outlet to expand his scope of narrative work while deploying his own storytelling techniques. “1stAve’s focus on creativity and experimentation instantly attracted me,” he recalls. “I like to make interesting work and take risks and I wanted a company that would back me up. The industry is changing so much so it’s important to be versatile and flexible and I loved 1stAve’s collective approach to this.”

Throughout his storied career, Dickenson has displayed his versatility and visual craftsmanship across mediums. The director has not only created stirring short films such as I Am Water, but helmed music videos for the likes of Mount Kimbie and The XX and directed memorable campaigns for Lexus, Sony, BBC and the World Wildlife Fund, the last of which carries special significance. “Working with WWF over the years has definitely been one of my proudest achievements,” Dickenson says. “My last project with them was their Christmas commercial that tackles the issue of the illegal ivory trade. WWF set some extremely high targets for new members and donations around this project. They completely smashed their targets and it became one of the most successful commercials they have ever put out, so that makes me very happy.”

While he’s traversed the creative spectrum in his numerous directing efforts, Dickenson still takes a consistent yet customized approach with each and every project, one that also encourages plenty of collaboration along the way. “I like to think i find a good balance between a raw visceral style and the more surreal emotive approach in filmmaking,” he explains. “I’m quite collaborative in the process and on set, I’m very aware that it’s my responsibility to get the best out of the team around me. I enjoy this challenge and I pride myself in creating a comfortable energetic atmosphere where people can be awesome.”

According to 1stAveMachine Partner Sam Penfield, Dickenson’s inventiveness, diverse skill set, creative flair and visual acumen make him an ideal fit within the production company’s roster. “We have been working with Anthony for two years as a freelance director and have grown to appreciate and respect him immensely as a creator and person. While Anthony’s work can be quite technical, he finds that ‘rare air’ where the techniques successfully support and aid the emotion of the storytelling. No matter how many times I have watched ‘I Am Water’, I still get goosebumps and everytime I see the WWF work I swear to myself to join WWF and contribute (and then I remember that I already have). We are big fans of Anthony and delighted to have him as a part of our 1stAve family.”
